This year the Caddo Mills Historical Society is planning to have the second floor of the Old Opry House, which is where the museum is housed, open for your pleasure. There will be a collection of over three hundred photographs, artifacts, Caddo histories and other items for your viewing pleasure. There are new display cases and boards, so it should be special. The details will be provided in a future letter. The Historical Society is asking for your help to improve the museum. We need pictures, family histories, Caddo Mills stories, artifacts, etc. If you have items that you would like to loan or donate to the museum please contact one of the people listed below. They need your help.
We have scheduled Ernie’s to cater the dinner, as he has for the past three reunions. Some of the local alumni will also provide homemade desserts as well. The price for the dinner will be in the range of $15 per person.
We voted at the 1998 reunion to sponsor a Scholarship Program for worthy, needy, college bound, Caddo High graduates. So far we have given twenty such scholarships of either $1,000 or $1,500. Due to various factors, our funds are running very low. We had planned to start a fund raising program in 2008, but due to the financial climate that year we decided to wait. We are now in desperate need of funding. If you could spare any amount it would be put to good use. So far every student we have supported has gone on to college and earned a degree, or they are still in college. That is a great success rate. Your gift of $10, $20, $50, or more would be greatly appreciated.
We are not asking for you to send the money for the dinner at this time, but your donation to the Scholarship Program is needed now. This program has been very successful, and we would hate to see it end due to a lack of funding. Your donation should be made to “Caddo Mills Alumni Scholarship Fund”. These contributions are tax deductable as the money goes directly to the CMISD, and no funds are paid out until CMISD receives a valid college invoice. We normally interview 20 to 30 students for the scholarship, and they are all great kids.
